Moderators work to slow down neutrons to speeds at which fissile elements can absorb them. In fact, heavy water as a moderator is 1700 times more efficient than light water!

The reason that the uranium does not need to be enriched is due to the heavy water moderator which doesn't absorb as many neutrons as the commonly used light water does. The use of natural uranium for fuel is different than most other reactor designs which require the use of enriched uranium (which means that its concentration of fissile uranium-235 has been enhanced). A fuel bundle remains in the reactor between 6 and 24 months, depending on its location within the core. The fuel bundle is approximately 50 cm in length and 10 cm in diameter. Thirty seven fuel rods are bunched together to complete a cylindrical fuel bundle, seen in Figure 2. In CANDU reactors, fuel in the form of uranium oxide powder is packed into pellets and placed in the fuel rods. CANDU reactors use about 25 to 30% less mined uranium than a comparable light water reactor (mostly because of the better use of neutrons in the reactor). The uranium-238 is fertile and can absorb high speed neutrons and convert to plutonium-239 which is fissile and then undergoes fission this process accounts for around half of the energy produced within the reactor. Natural uranium is composed of about 0.7% uranium-235, and the remaining 99.3% is mostly uranium-238 which cannot directly be used in a fission process to obtain energy. Each bundle is roughly the size of a fireplace log and provides enough electricity for a Canadian family of four for 100 years.ĬANDU reactors use natural uranium as their nuclear fuel. I did however whish the visuals were a little sharper and the light more glowy/shiny.Figure 2. The graphics were nice and the audio fitting. And of course the artwork is very well made, and the characters look very cool and interesting! Although I only know, what is showed in the game about the characters, I really enjoyed how their physical features implies a deeper relationship, as light and shadow is intertwined. The story is simple, yet very relatable and well written. I am impressed as to how much effort was put into a story which relies so heavily on puzzles. The second best thing about the game is the story. I imagine that creating the right shadows by using the assets must have been incredibly hard!

The main aspect of the game is the unique interaction between the shadows and light, which is used very creative manner to challenge the player. i know it might be just a design choice due to "just having her older brother hold a lamp/flashlight would be boring" but still curious if there's a "lore" behind it.Īs far as I know, this quite the original idea in terms of puzzles, and I am a huge fan of it! Oh, and out of curiosity, is the brother adopted or is having an "living object" relative common in that world since we see in 1 of the pics a flower and plume persons as staff (nice touch with the pics btw). My only gripe is that it was rather short, but that is a different kind of issue (and part cuz i wanted to play more :D ) and may very well be due to limitation or a "testing the waters" before deciding if to go for larger.Įither way, curious if there are any plans for a longer version or a longer game on this concept. The concept looks very interesting. the character design and art style of the game both look really good and fitting. the story, the humor, the 2 characters personalities and their interactions (from the little we were shown) were also interesting, cute and wholesome, and felt quite natural/genuine so props for that. all in all great job.
